It was a dark and stormy night, not fit for man or beast… when someone who was neither of these slunk out of the woods.
Emelind is a changeling, a stranger to the world she’s been cast into–and she desperately wants to go home. However, as she works towards her goal, it becomes apparent that everyone cherishes a wish for something… and every one of those wishes has its cost.
Welcome to a story of mangled folklore, broken promises, and belonging.
Whither started as a webcomic back in 2003. It was scrapped in 2007, underwent a reboot, and saw the light of day again in January of 2010. As of September 2014, 14 chapters are complete out of an estimated 24. The planning is done, but a good deal of the detail is written chapter-by-chapter, so the finished length is a guesstimation.
About the Author
Danie here! Hi. I don’t go for the third-person thing, so just bear with me. I’ve been reading since just about as far back as I can remember, and started drawing and writing slightly after that. Always liked fantasy and comics, so it was kind of inevitable that I’d start putting them together. And so Whither was born.
(What else do people put in these things?)
I live in Atlantic Canada, I survive on brutally strong black tea topped up with a ton of milk and sugar, and I speak French and Scottish Gaelic. I take inspiration from a big pile of comics, a bigger pile of books, Arthur Rackham watercolours, and the Aarne-Thompson Tale Type Index.
